We are now one (1) week out from Two for Charging's release date! On May 26th, this book will become available to anyone who pre-orders. Or, if you order it via NineStar Press, you can get it four days early on May 22nd!
I'm really excited for this one to go out there into the world because it's a pretty personal one for me. It's not autobiographical in the slightest, but some elements of Chris's struggles with sexuality and therapy are inspired by my own experiences and I can't wait to find out what people think.
So what's next?
Two for Roughing is coming soon. Initial edits are complete, so now I'm waiting on the copy edits, after which only proofing and layout remain. The cover art is finished (and it's maybe my favorite so far??) and just waiting for lettering. In German there's a phrase that goes "with one laughing and one crying eye", which is very much how I feel about the Minor Penalties series drawing to a close. I have quite a few short
stories left in store for you, but as it stands, Roughing will be the last full length novel with these characters.

I do have a few other things in the works, though. Right now, I'm writing another series following teachers (and a librarian) at a K-12 public school in Milwaukee. Each of their books plays with a romance trope. In book one, Markus and Oskar get married in Vegas--on purpose and fully sober. The story follows the consequences of their decision and examines what it really means to commit to someone.
The manuscript for the first book is currently with my editor at NineStar Press as well as with a few friends for sensitivity reading (shout out to Simone Holiday, whose books you should check out!), so we will see what becomes of it. Also, if this series does come to pass, it will include my first published M/F book (I finished the first draft yesterday), my first trans main character, and my first F/F book. All of which would be very exciting. So fingers crossed.
What else is new?
This May has been the most successful month of my writing "career" (sorry I have to use the quotation marks it's the law). A huge thank you to anyone who ordered a copy of any of my books in any format from any site, it means so much to me that people are actually interested in my work.
For anyone who doesn't know how royalties work in a small press: I get sales numbers and royalties on a 60-120 day delay. So really this means that February was my most successful month, but either way, this month I sold as many books as I had in the four months of 2026 that came before it.
I added a "shop" section to this website not because I am actually selling things directly but because I wanted to have a place where people could download digital signed bookplates and compiled .pdf files of all the Minor Penalties short stories.
Why did I do this? I realized that it is very unlikely I will ever be able to attend book cons and sign things in person, and it made me sad.
I did play with the idea of turning it into a real shop and talking to my cover artist Tuisku about turning her beautiful cover art into bookmarks, and in my ideal world I'd love to put all the short stories into a box set of the Minor Penalties books. However, German tax laws makes this currently deeply unappealing. Maybe someday.
